Ballista Guide

Ballista

I myself am addicted I never miss a match (Unless I have to sleep!) So I decided why not make this of something I know Best. Ballista!

1: What is Ballista?

Ballista is a team based battle where players from all nations can fight for fun and some gil. It's PVP (Player vs. Player) and alot of fun so why not try it out!

2:How do I join?

Well, my friend, you want to join? You need to first get a Ballista License Which I will explain later on in this guide. Next you must talk to Pursuivant in one of these 4 areas:

-Ru'Lude Gardens Up the stairs by the Mog house
-Windurst Waters just a short walk from the mog house
-North Sandoria By the the mog of course!
-Port Bastok behind the wall of the you guessed it Mog house!

The Pursuivant can tell you everything from Match times to what the rules are in the matchs!!! (also for Teleporting to Matchs, that's later on)

3:How do I get my License?

Well that, my friend, all depends on where your Home Country is. You must be Rank 3+ in order to get the quest! You must speak with your PVP Captain! Here's their POS and details:

Invincible Shield - Metalworks - G-8 (Bastok)
Excenmille - North Sandoria - D-9 (San d'Oria)
Mhabi Molkot - Heavens Tower - Clerical Chamber (Windurst)

These Captains will tell you that if you want to get a License you must travel to the other countries to speak with their captains. Know what that means!? Road Trip!!! Go to each country and speak with the NPCs posted above. Then you will need to speak with the leaders of the country: Karst, King Derstin, and Star Sibyl. Return home, speak with your Ballista Captain and your Home Nation's Leader and then you got your self a Shiny new Ballista License!

4: So now what do I do!?

Well, my friend, you are ready to play! Depending on the cap you will have to pay a Fee. Yes, a fee don't worry, it's not much!!

The Prices:

500 gil - 30 cap
1000 gil- 40 cap
1500 gil- 50 cap
2000 gil- 60 cap
3000 gil - Uncapped

See! Now lets see what areas there are for the picking. Remember, after each match the next will be in a new zone so don't sit there in the same zone if you want to play again.

Jugner Forest
Pashhow Marshlands
Meriphataud Mountains

It always goes Jugner > Pashhow > Meriphataud. If your playing all 3 Matches of that cap there will be a 30 cap for each of these zones same with all the other caps so remember that!

5: Okay I'm here but there's nothing here!?

Yes my dear friend there are Heralds that Spawn at 12:00 game time of that match day! He will take sign ups. But you tell me "Sages I'm Bastok, it's Sandy vs. Windy" Not to fear!! at 16:00 all nations can join they will be put on the team with the least people. Now at 18:00 you can erm.... whats the word Change *cough* betray *cough* your country and join the side with the least people. Remember you need 3 people on each side for the match to start if there aren't enough people then it won't happen.

6:Okay the match started and I'm lost

Okay so the match starts. Stay with the people on your team at all times. If you're a BLM or BRD Sleepga is your friend here, same with bind and Stun! To score you have to /quarry (Ballista Function) for Petra. They can be dug up fairly easy, but no that's not all. Next you must get Gate Breach by killing an enemy, which is easy! As long as you're close to a friend as he kills someone you will get Gate Breach status, but remember if you die they get Gate Breach from you! So be careful! You will lose your Petras when you die. Next, your team must scout the Rook (a Floating Castle thing) and throw your Petra in it. You need Gate Breach to throw the Petra. The rook likes to move alot so try to keep up. Also, Temporay Items are key here you can dig everything from a Potion to a Sleeping Potion! Heres a List of Items you can dig up!

HP regaining and HP Bosting Items:

Potion - Restores 50 HP
Hi-Potion - Restores 100 HP

Silent oil - Sneak (This is useless to me. seeing as they can target you)
Lathe Water- Dispels Effects the target has it will dispel at random (Shadows are no longer a problem!!!! lol)

A lot eh?? Well, let's say you are the winning team and it was 12 vs. 12 30 cap. You would each win 1000 gil (500 X2). But let's say you're on the winning team and it's 12 vs.11, your prize would be a little less due to the fact that you had more people and if they won they would get about 1100 gil for besting your team with 1 less person.

7: Ballista Points?

Yes, Ballista Points. This game rewards you for playing. Losing or winning you get Ballista Points! You earn Ballista Points by Helping allies, Defeating a Person, and Scoring Petra. Now you may notice a NPC near the Herald by the Name Marshal. This nice little NPC let's you spent your points on items to start a Match with! Meaning you can start with a Revitalizer and do 2 hours twice!!

8: Closing

I hope you all have fun with Ballista and I hope to see you all on the battlefield one day!
Thanks to Maje for the Info and Anthny one of my best buddies and all the Brave Warriors on Pandy!
